1. What are cookies?

Cookies are strings of text created by a server and stored on any device used by the user to access the Internet (PC, smartphone, tablet) and then re-transmitted the next time the user accesses it.
Cookies (technical, analytical) make it possible to collect information on the navigation performed by the user on the website.
Cookies can be stored permanently on the user's device and have a variable duration (so-called persistent cookies), but they can also disappear when the browser is closed or have a limited duration (so-called session cookies).
Cookies can be set by the website that the user is visiting (so-called first party cookies) or they can be set by other websites (so-called third party cookies such as Google Analytics).
First-party cookies are cookies that are generated and used by the operator of the site on which the user is browsing.

Cookies may then be:

Technical cookies

These cookies are necessary to enable:

  • navigation and use of the website (for example, they allow authentication to access restricted areas, "navigation or session cookies").
  • navigation according to a series of selected criteria (e.g., language, "functionality cookies") to improve the service provided to the user. They are essential to navigate the site using all its features. For the installation of cookies, the user's consent is not required, only the obligation to be informed.

“Analytic” cookies

As specified by the Personal Data Protection Authority (see provision of 8 May 2014 and Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools of 10 June 2021), analytic cookies can be assimilated to technical cookies if they are used for site optimization purposes directly by the owner of the site itself, who may collect statistical information in aggregate form on the number of users and how they visit the site. This also applies if the processing of such statistical analysis is entrusted to third parties, but the users' data are minimized and are not combined with other processing or transmitted to other third parties.

Other types of cookies

Any cookies other than technical and "analytics" cookies, as indicated and described above, such as profiling cookies, will be installed or activated only after the user has given his or her consent when first visiting the site. The consent may be expressed in a precise manner, interacting with the short information banner on the landing page of the site, according to the modalities indicated in that banner. A record of this consent is kept on subsequent visits. The user always has the possibility of revoking all or part of the consent already expressed.

2. What cookies does this site use?

The website www.techstar.it uses exclusively technical cookies necessary for browsing the site and to allow essential functions such as authentication, validation, management of a browsing session, for authentication to manage the site and access to restricted areas (when active). The use of session and technical cookies is strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers necessary to enable the safe and efficient exploration of the site. There are also third-party "analytics" cookies that collect statistical information in aggregate form (users' data are minimized and are not combined with other processing or transmitted to other third parties). These technical and analytical cookies do not require the user's consent.

3. How to control/disable cookies?

It is possible to change browser settings to delete or disable cookies. Below are links to instructions on how to do this for the main browsers

Please note that setting browsers to disallow the installation of cookies may require the user to manually change their preferences each time they visit the site, and some services or features may not be available.
